The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is inexpensive, often leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have risen the rate of oil, the concern of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In an area that has among the highest carbon footprints on the planet, one organization is taking advantage of the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving profitable too, currently their client-list contains McDonald's.
